We greet you in love from Thailand. The Lord has given much blessing to the work here in Tak, and we are blessed to be a part of the team effort. First, there have been two seminars here this past month. One of them was led by an American missionary couple that served Thailand for 12 years. They counseled us, giving specific helps for Biblical evangelism here. We have greatly benefited by their experience and were enriched by their knowledge of God’s Word. The second seminar was led by a seminary professor from Germany, who tremendously blessed us with the wealth of spiritual understanding God has given him, especially concerning how to rightly understand the Word. With these blessings, we have been able to be more productive and full of joy through the persistent spiritual attacks.
We continue our fight against the powers at work here, who have so clearly (yet so deceptively) blinded and enslaved the masses here. Trusting that they appease the spirits by offering sacrifices to them, they shun anyone of their own who comes out of such vain idolatry. This is what a handful of women are getting prepared to face in one of the villages we serve, as they have rejected their prior beliefs and trusted in Christ this past month! It took preaching the Gospel to them for 10 years by the Thai team here, not to mention by us as well during our few months here. And it’s a miracle that they have come to faith, even after so long of a witness. The last struggle that held them, of course, was the understanding that they will be outcasts from their community and family (which is the biggest social institution here). So this recent victory really brings to light the greatness of God’s power to save to the uttermost. Pray for these 6 women and their village, Talu Patan.
The newly started “Futbol Ministry” is under full swing. We have held our first outreach competition, hosting over 50 kids with many of their parents. I was asked to give the opening word and it was on my heart to share my testimony of God’s grace and power to save and sanctify a drug addict.A number of the parents were very thankful for our work afterwards, and part of the reason, I think, is because quite a few of the kids we coach and teach are already on drugs. Pray that not only the kids and teens believe our message, but also for their parents. We look forward to seeing the ligh of the Gospel break through the thick darkness here, and we ask that you all would continue to pray.
